Program: Cohabitation buildings between different species

Location:  Paris - FRANCE

While the major European capitals see their cityscape taken over by wildlife, Paris is only starting to experience this migration. As a new actor needs to be included in the landscape, the project must be thought in a different way than if it was exclusively for Men. Biodiversity is based on a multitude of factors that are out of human control. Furthermore, it is also necessary to adapt to other species while being aware of our limit of putting ourselves in their shoes.

The building tends more towards an architecture of what is possible rather than an architecture that is clearly defined. It brings together different principles that are in favor of a human / animal cohabitation: the scale, the retranscription of biotopes, the maintenance of a space, the verticality, the porosity, or even the use of sustainable materials. Building for humans, plants and animals means building a new interaction that can only be done when the structure changes function, when the envelope becomes a shelter, when the main parts of an ordinary dwelling encourage interaction while preserving everyone’s private space. The architecture is different when the boundaries are redefined, when thresholds become layers, when «home» opens invisible doors to species that don’t share our humanity.
